What is this blog?

Why I’m starting this blog, what I hope to achieve, why you should maybe read it.

Why I’m starting this blog

Honestly I’m not really sure why I’m starting this blog.

For the longest time, I would say to myself that I would start an internet blog, but as I’m writing these first few words, I realize I’m about to publicly humiliate myself by displaying my convuluted writing style and scattered thoughts to the entire internet (if anyone bothers reading this).

I’ve never been much of a writer, but I do appreciate great writing. Perhaps I’ll use this opportunity to become a better writer myself in anticipation of the thousands of blog posts I will be writing in the future.

In truth, I’ve been procrastinating this blog for a while. I know I have the patience in me to write these blog posts, I just felt lazy setting up this blog - as with most software engineering projects.

More importantly, I think too much and do way too many things for my own good and I don’t even write about any of it. I would probably have around 20-30 posts already, better late than never.

But the biggest reason is that as I’m growing older, I feel like I need a platform to just talk, even if my viewership consists of myself and the void. I would love to see what I think of all my posts in a decade or two.

As a bonus, evidently from the date of this post, this could be a good new years resolution.

What I hope to achieve

My long term projections are still unclear. I have about 20-30 years of a career ahead of me, I know my capabilities, and I know I’m ambitious.

So far, I’ve been working at You.com  - an AI search startup - which has been quite the journey so far. At the same time, I’ve been running a student design team at my school called WatArrow  for almost 3 years now. And of course, I’m wrapping up my final semester of school at the University of Waterloo after two gap years.

I’m also a long-time photographer, after recently buying my dream camera, I have been taking photos non-stop, if my words get boring, at least my photography can entertain you.

There’s quite a lot to write about. I’m hoping to write all about my past experiences, my current engineering tinkering, and my personal life (when I feel like it).

Throughout all this, it would be nice to get progressively better at both technical and personal writing as well as learning new things along the way.

Why you should maybe read it

This blog is personal. Whether you know me well or not, you can get an inside scoop into my mind (not that most would care for it). I’m going to dive into as much as I can, and you can follow on the journey.

I don’t really care whether or not you like my blog posts, but I hope that reading through them will either teach you something about what I’m working on, what I’m thinking about, or just something about me.

Let’s see if this project dies as quickly as the first blog post…
